This acid reflux has affected my life for about 8 or 9 years now. Most of the time I manage to keep it under control. When stress levels are extremely high, such as when my daughter and husband had cancer it spiralled out of control. I've spent years searching on the internet looking for others who share this frustrating problem. There's no shortage of them.
Years ago my Dr suggested I try Losec. One treatment and it'll be gone forever she said. Hmmm well after 2 and a half weeks it seemed she was right. Wow this was great. THEN 3 and a half weeks into the 4 week,s it came back worse than ever. I stopppd taking them and did some reading, and realised Losec isn't the wonder drug many proclaim it to be. There are people out there who have been on it for years and are desperately trying to get off it with no luck.
I discovered apple cider vinegar, and for the past 7 years or so have started my day with a tablespoon of ACV and a teaspoon of manuka honey as a hot drink, and for much of the time this has kept it at bay. I suffer from Silent reflux, which means I don't get heartburn, but apparently am more suspect to throat issues, such as burning and being inflamed.
Now this past year I've been hit with one sickness after the other, and after getting bronchitis and a chest infection the reflux has got extremely bad. I've had a sore throat for months now off and on, more on than off, and can feel a burning or bile taste almost continuously in my throat. Eating is great, as that is when it feels at it's best! Well wouldn't that help my already oversized body.
I've felt for ages diet must play a huge part in this condition, and before I succumb to medications I decided to have one last look for some divine intervention. It came in the form of an online site, and if it works, in a few weeks I will share with anyone who wants to know. What I liked, was this man was prepared to share his story, thoughts and eating plan for nothing except a donation. As I was reading it, it all started to make sense. But I could see ee there were some huge changes to be made to my lifestyle. I like to think we eat reasonably healthy, but soon realised we also eat a lot of refined and processed 'crap'.
The thing is can I do it? Do I have the willpower? Can I give up sugars and milk and other junk food? Time will tell
